Meet Phil Brock

Phil Brock was born in Santa Monica (a native!). He received his BA in History/ Kinesiology from UCLA. Phil obtained his M.Ed and teaching credential at Loyola Marymount University. His teaching(history, english,psychology) and coaching(baseball/football/athletic director) career was centered in inner city high schools in Los Angeles followed by an assistant coaching position at UCLA. Following his teaching career, Phil was CEO of a retail chain of contemporary design/jewelry stores throughout Europe and the United States. During this time Phil was encouraged to re-discover the acting profession(first play at 13 was the title role in "King Midas"). After rigorous training Phil became a very successful actor and had numerous appearances in film, television and theatre.

He is a proud cardholder in three acting guilds and is a member of the Academy Of Television Arts and Sciences. During the continuing evolution of his career he found himself assisting one of his students who wished to begin an acting career. Through an accidental twist of fate Phil founded Studio Talent Group(STG) in 1994. Phil has left behind his earlier pursuits as managing his clients at Studio Talent Group has become a more than a full-time endeavor. In fact, "STG" is an innovative hybrid, blending the services of a licensed California Talent Agent with the personal touch of management. In addition, Phil is a Director Emeritus of the Talent Managers Association. Through this organization, seasoned managers work to impart a high degree of ethics and skill to those who are new to the profession.

At STG, Phil and his staff provide the highest caliber of Talent Management combining his teaching/coaching experience in creating his management style. He teaches his actors that their ability to sell themselves generates the jobs that they need to showcase their talent. From his years as an actor, Phil can see the entertainment world from the actor's side of the casting desk and can pinpoint the areas in which each actor needs to develop. STG represents performers in the Motion Picture, Television, Theatre and Commercial categories and has a full Literary Division. STG clients work in film, are seen in Guest Star and Recurring parts on many TV shows, appear frequently in local and regional theatre, and have starred on Broadway and in NY/ LA Soaps. In addition, STG actors book many commercials through Studio Talent assistance.

Phil believes deeply in the concept of "giving back" and is involved in the Boys and Girls Club Of Santa Monica Council, Past Chairman of the Sports and Physical Education Advisory Committee of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, Working Chair for The HOPE Foundation, a Recreation & Parks Commissioner for The City Of Santa Monica, Working Chair for the Airport Marina Counseling Center Annual Walk/Run, a member of Bruin Caucus, Chairperson of the UCLA Alumni Awards Program, a UCLA Chancellor's Associate, Alumni Awards Resource Committee Chair, UCLA Spring Sing honorary judge, entertainment and career night UCLA honored guest, and is highly active on behalf of children in five Los Angeles area charities. As a UCLA graduate Phil has a copy of Coach John Wooden's Pyramid Of Success on the wall in the STG lobby. The ideals that Coach Wooden stressed to his athletes are equally important to each and every actor every day. Wooden stated, "Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming." Although as an actor, one is not totally in control of other people's perceptions of your work, you can and must control your personal satisfaction with the work that you do. You must be certain at the end of each day that you did everything that you could to achieve your best. Phil Brock encourages each actor to show initiative, enthusiasm, poise and confidence, to help develop their skills each and every day, and to find ways to help within their communities outside of the acting world. Congratulations to our Alma Awards 2008 Best Actress Nominee Eva Tamargo who is now starring on the telenovela "Mas Sabe El Diablo" and guest starred on "NCIS". We congratulate Master Comedian, Impressionist, Actor & Singer Fred Travalena whose star shines just west of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. We're proud of STG client Jeff Conaway who received the Pop Culture award at the "TV Land" Awards in April. Jeff also appeared on the "1 vs 100 Grease Extravaganza". Lady Victoria Hervey will be hosting the new series "High Maintenance", and wrapped "Space Reserved" Tom Hallick is now guest starring on "Cold Case", co starring on "Nip/Tuck", and is a recurring sketch player on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show".Lony'e Perrine just co-starred on "Chuck", "United States Of Tara", and "Castle" and has a national "Bud Lite" spot in continuous rotation. Lony'e also can be seen in an "Asics" print ad. Danielle Vasinova co starred on "Dexter" and "The Philantrophist". She also shot a print series for "Harley Davidson". Alex Endeshaw continues to burnish his comedic credits by adding "Rules Of Engagement", "Jimmy kimmel Live" and "Chocolate News" to his list. He is a recurring guest star on "My Name Is Earl". Christine Lucas is appearing on "House", co starred in "Brothers & Sisters" this past season, starred in the feature "Nine Shades Of Pleasant", has been recurring on "Young & Restless" & "Days Of Our Lives", and is a host for Sky 3's "Deal TV" in the UK. The busy Christine just booked a "Commerce Bank" spot as well. Scott Damian is Iago the Parrot at Disney's California Adventure. Jonathan Nail co-starred on "NCIS","ER","Mad Men", filmed the features, "No One Island", and "Side Effect" and has a series of new "Cox Cable" commercials in the can.Leonard Kelly Young is on a hot streak with "Mad Men" upcoming & commercials for "Comcast","Starbucks","IBM","Little Caesar's" and "Pavesini" He recently supported in the film "Exit" and Leonard will be starring in "Moonlight & Magnolias" at both the Laguna Playhouse & La Mirada Theatre this fall. Everyone's favorite handwriting expert Bart Baggett appeared on the Today show, filmed a pilot entitled "Can You Trust Me?" and is the resident expert on "I Love New York".Irwin Keyes wrapped a great role on "CSI" and adds starring roles in "Dahmer v Gacy", "Mansfield Path", "The Urn", "Choppers","Careless", "Sent" "Fallen One", "Chiller", "Coma" "Horror High" and "Wrestle Maniac" to his extensive resume. Watch for a new "Capital One" commercial featuring Irwin coming soon. Wes Nathanson will be shooting his episode of "Criminal Minds" soon and co-starred on "Life", "Scrubs" and "Cold Case" recently. Carl Palmer recently guest starred on "General Hospital". Kerie Edmead can be seen in a national "Sears" campaign. Stephen Balckehart is in "The Whisperer In Darkness". Susan Nash is in a new "Apartments.com" commercial along with client Richard Wilgrubs.Eddie Applegate wrapped the feature "Easy A" recently. Jim Nieb has a new "K&G" commercial now airing.Taya Asimos taped "Important Things With Demetri Martin" & worked with "Mattel" recently. "Applebees" has a new commercial star in client Anna Roberts. Anna is also in the new feature "Stay Still". Our client & good friend Fred Travalena passed away Sunday, June 28th after a long & valiant fight with cancer. Fred was a supremely talented actor, singer & impressionist whose star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame shined brightly each and every day. As will the world, we will miss him and remember him fondly.
